Parenting: Touching the Hearts of Our Youth

This is the sweetest little video, made from an exert of one of Elder Robert Hales talks. I remember it from conference and LOVED it!!! It is worth listening to again. What a good reminder to all of us busy parents and grandparents about what's important.

The other day when Mike and I were at the movies, we noticed that Shrek was there too, so we invited our 3 big girls, and mom to come with us to see it. Lucky for us, Lani was off Friday afternoon too, so she came along. The girls were very good, thanks to all the snacks Lani brought!!!

We are waiting for Lani, and Opi to go get the cars so we can head home.

All 3 girls LOVE chicken nuggets in the shape of a crown at Burger King, where we went for lunch before the movie.

All loaded up for fun.

Gigi and Lani came to Burger King with us too!

Here's Hailey with the Alice in wonderland doll Gigi gave to the 3 girls.

Here is a cute picture of Molly on her birthday, on the scooter we gave her.

Brown Family Reunion 2010

Bonnie and Dennis were in town this week, so she and I decided it would be fun to have a picnic with all the family who could come. Last night we all got together at the park by my house, and had a great time. We had 51 people there! We were so happy that so many were able to come. Mom, Dad, Lani, Ric, Kathy, Carissa, Chase and Morgan, Mike and I and all our kids and grandkids, except Jordan and his wife Jamie who are in Georgia. Darlene, David, Lisa and 2 of her girls, Richard and Lori and their 4 kids. Mike and Kaye, Michele and Travis, and their 4 kids, and Jerone and Debbie and their 4 kids. Bonnie, Dennis, Chase and Lauren. We made pulled pork sandwiches that were really good, and everyone brought a salad or dessert to share. We had tons of delicious food, and it was lots of fun to get to visit with so many of our family.

August 11th was a very special day!

Here are a few of my favorite pictures of Krista and Molly when they were little. It is a lot easier to add pictures of Molly, since they are all on my computer, and I don't have to scan them in. (Plus, I have hundreds of them, thanks to digital cameras!) Weren't they both adorable tiny girls? WE are so glad they are both in our family!!!!

Krista was only 3 days old in the picture in the top left corner. Notice she had on a nightie I made for her, just like the ones I have been making for the girls. (If you double click on the picture, it will get bigger)

More nighties

I didn't know if the 1 1/2 year old girls would like the nighties or not, but they were so fun to make, that I couldn't resist making one for them. (I'll have to make one for Abbie when she's a walking girl, crawling and nighties, just don't mix well) I thought if I made theirs a little shorter, they could enjoy being fancy too! I used the very same pattern, just cut them off about six inches shorter. They both look so cute in them! Here's Katie in front of my flower bed, being a little shy.

Here's Aida at her house, she could tell she looked pretty cute!!!

Sleepover and fun in the sun!

My cute friend Carolyn, called me on Saturday, and was cleaning out her fabric. She told me she had some tricot that she didn't think she would ever use. She wondered if I would like to make some little girl nighties out of it. I hadn't sewn for a while, and it sounded like a fun project. I woke up early Monday morning and wanted to get started. I remembered the tricot nighties we used to make, about 30 years ago, and wondered if there was still a pattern out there for them. I googled Juliet nighties, and didn't find anything. I checked several pattern websites on line, and then found a peasant shirt that a gal had made and put on her blog. She had this little drawing of the pattern that I kinda faked and came up with some pretty cute nighties!

Here they are in their new "elegant" princess nighties.

Another shot of them in their new nighties, I invited them all 3 for a sleepover. (I always wonder why they call it a sleepover, not much sleeping goes on!)

I made myself a matching nightie, they are very comfy!

Libbie came up with this great idea, she calls it "modeling" I think it's something like a makeover/visit to the spa! Mike was the one they chose to do it to. It was hilarious. They gathered all the supplies, and the 3 of them went to work. I'm not sure why she brought in the fan, but she had it going full blast as they sprayed him down with water, gave him a foot massage and a new hair do. Mike was such a good sport.

A nice foot massage

A little lotion and spray on his legs

A new hairdo. A few spikes look good, a little gel to help them stand up!

The final touch, a wonderful cape!(they improvised, and used a princess dress for a cape)

Opi, thanks for letting us play "modeling" with you! You look great!

Libbie had swimming lessons at 10:00 this morning, so I took all 3 girls up and Hailey and Molly watched her lessons with me. After swimming, all the moms came with the babies to our house for lunch and a little fun in the water.

A couple of summers ago I bought these cute shirts on clearance. All 3 girls brought cute jeans to wear, so I remembered I had these matching shirts. They love being triplets!

Hailey really enjoyed her water slide that she got from Jamie and Jordan for her birthday

Katie got wet before we had time to get her swimsuit on!

Aida loves the water!
