Later he worked for the US Air Force at Hill Air Force Base as an Electronic Technician and served in the Air National Guard where he retired as Chief Master Sergeant. After retirement, he drove his truck towing trailers all across the country and Kaye would often join him in his journeys. At the end of his life, he drove a Special Needs school bus for Canyon’s School District, which was the highlight of his day especially while he was battling cancer. He made many friends there and he loved driving the students back and forth. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved basketball or whatever sports his Grandchildren played; he was their best support even from afar. He loved being outdoors and wanted to be a Forest Ranger his entire life. He and Kaye loved doublefeature movie dates, he loved motor cycles, new cars, playing card games, riding his bike, exercising and fishing trips to Alaska. Mike was a wonderful disciple of Jesus Christ and served as an ordinance worker in the Draper Utah Temple. He never missed an opportunity to reach out to a friend or neighbor to offer help with moving, car repair, shoveling snow in the winter, or mowing lawns in the summer. Mike was loved by all the many people he helped especially near the end of his life. The day after Grandpa Cline died, my Uncle Mike passed away.  He had been fighting cancer for almost 2 years and was done.  We were able to stop and see him on our way to Bear Lake just 2 days before he died.  We had such a sweet visit with him and were able to tell him how much we loved him.  His funeral was wonderful!!! Everyone that spoke shared great stories about him and it was so great to be there.  He has an amazing family who will miss him so much.

It was so nice to see so many of our family there.  All of my siblings except Robynn were there. Krista was the only one of our kids that could make it.  All of Darlene's kids were there except Marci.
(Here's just a few of those who were there)

Bonnie, Dennis and three of there cute boys were there.

After the funeral, we went to the Vetrans Cemetary in Saratogo Springs where he was burried.

It was a cold day, but no rain or snow.

The military shot off guns and played taps on the bugle.

Just after 5:00 on the evening of Mike's funeral, Aunt Jerry passed away.  She has been struggling with Alzheimers for the past few years, and fell just after Christmas and broke her hip, and never recovered.
Her funeral will be next Saturday, what a start to the new year.  Now Bonnie and Darlene are the only two siblings left out of the five.

Grandpa Cline passes away

Paul Raymond Cline

                                                  January 11, 1929 — January 14, 2023

Paul Raymond Cline, 94, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on January 14th 2023, in West Jordan Utah.  Paul was born on January 11th 1929, in Draper Utah, to Remo Sterling Cline and Bessie Pearson Cline.  He is the third of their seven children. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first and second wives, Colleen Didericksen and Wanda Jensen Smith, and his three brothers Oliver, Remo Sterling, and Ernie.   Paul is survived by his three sisters: Jean Shaw, Joan McIntire, and Janis Ware; his children: Michael (Laurie) Cline, Mark (Jayna) Cline, Paula (Bob) Nohavec, David (Carol) Cline, and Steven (Lynn) Cline; his stepchildren: Sterling (RoChelle) Smith, Terry (Jen) Smith, Kevin (Pam) Smith, and Darlene (Bruce) Mair. Between his two families, he leaves 36 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Paul graduated from Washington High School, in Richland Washington. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the Central States Mission.  After his mission, he served his country for two years as an MP, during the Korean War.  When he returned from Korea, he enrolled at Brigham Young University, where he met Colleen and they married in the Logan Temple. They were blessed with five children. He left BYU to support his new family.  In the 1970s he returned to BYU, to finish his studies graduating with a BFA.After a divorce, he met his second wife, Wanda, at a church singles dance. They married and he became a step father to her four children. For most of his life, he earned his living as a plasterer.  He had his own business, Paul Cline Plastering, which he continued to work at until age 72.  He was a happy and tireless worker, often whistling and singing as he worked.  Many of his sons and grandsons have been blessed to work with him and learn from him.  His son Mark went on to build his own plastering business in Dallas Texas.  He is an artist.  He loved sculpting and painting. His favorite scripture is Matt 5:16  "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."  This scripture inspired many of his sculptures and paintings. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Paul loved serving others. He was inspired by the example of his grandfather, Ulysses S Cline, to spend as much time as possible in the temple serving as a patron. He would often spend entire days serving in the temple. He is a beloved grandfather and great grandfather. Many of his great grandchildren call him "The Sucker Grandpa", because he always had suckers for them.  The children in his condo complex knew that too, and would often stop by for a treat. Memorial Service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, January 28th, 2023, at The Harvest Hills 12th Ward Chapel, 270 W Harvest Hills Blvd, Saratoga Springs, Utah  84045  In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to consider donating to Paul's 9 year old great-granddaughter, Mia Quintero, who is fighting for her life in the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Grandpa Clines funeral was yesterday and was so nice.  One of Wanda's granddaughters gave a  life sketch that was so sweet.  Steven and Sterling spoke together and did a very nice job.      They started their talk by saying that they were Pauls twin sons, and if you can't tell them apart, Sterling is an inch taller than Steven.  They got a good laugh from the crowd. 😂

All of Grandpa's Grandkids were invited to join and sing I am a Child of God.  All of his grandkids and great grandkids from our side of the family were there, except Ambers.  Also many from Wanda's side joined in.

His friend Nolan shared some sweet memories of some of their times together.  He and Grandpa went to the temple together  often.  They were both gardeners, and loved helping each other in their gardens.  He took Grandpa on drives after he wasn't able to drive anymore, and they often went out to eat together.  Jordan played How Great Thou Art as requested by Grandpa and it was so beautiful!  Mom had requested him to play it at her funeral as well.  The bishop who had only been in for 2 months, gave a few remarks, then Misty sang the closing song, God Be With You Till we meet again.  She is sooo brave and did a nice job.   Grandpa decided a while ago, that he wanted to be cremated.  Since he knew his body wouldn't be at the funeral, he asked his ministering brother to paint a picture of him to be displayed there.  He painted this portrait that is 4 feet by 3 feet.  Bigger than life!  We displayed it by the table where you sign the guest book.

I totally forgot to take any pictures at the funeral, Crystal had taken a video of the display, so we just did a few screenshots, but they don't do it justice.  It looked pretty nice.  We had a mission picture and his missionary scripture, the last sketch he drew and one of Jesus and the little children that he had drawn.  There was also an old trowel, and a cute picture of him plastering (you can't see the picture)

We had a picture of him with some of the kids out in his garden and some hand garden tools.  A picture of him with all his kids and a sign that says Dad, my forever hero.  I'm sad I was so crazy busy that I didn't get ANY pictures of anything at the church.  I'm glad Crystal took a couple and shared them with me.  After the funeral, the Relief Society served a delicious luncheon for 100 people.  They were so gracious.  I didn't mention earlier, that we ordered 3 beautiful boquets of flowers to go in the chapel.  We had asked anyone who was thinking about donating flowers, to consider donating to Amber's little Mia, who is soooo sick and in a childrens hospital in Pennsylvania, where she has been for over a month.  When we walked into the chapel after the prayer, there were no flowers.  The flowers we ordered,  hadn't arrived and we were too busy to notice until it was too late.  The sweet Relief Society President, ran and grabbed a beautiful bouquet out of the Relief Society room and put on the pulpit.  When we got into the cultural hall for the luncheon, there were three of the most beautiful flower arrangements I've ever seen on the serving table.  They had arrived 10 minutes after the funeral started.  The flower shop was so appologetic for the mishap, and gave us a full refund.  Grandpa wanted his ashes spread in the Jordan River, so after the funeral, a few of us went and granted his wish.  Matt, Steven's son played taps

Mark and Sterling spread his ashes in the river and Crystal added some flowers. Then Steven and Sterling folded the flag and gave it to Mark.  It was a very nice day and I hope Grandpa enjoyed seeing how many people love him!  We were able to have Matthew, Sterling, Carolsue, Misty, Crystal and her little boy Koda stay with us.   Koda has grown so much since we saw him a year ago.

Sterlings family arrived Thurs morning and left Sunday morning and Matthew arrived Thurs night and is leaving Monday night.
It has been a BUSY few weeks!  After he passed, I spoke with several of his friends,at the assisted living apartment, and was able to give away his nice recliner and matching bedspread to Rhea.

His nightstand and lamp to John

and his bookshelf to Flossy.

Krista, Matt, Josh, and Merijane and Wanda's grandson Jason, came over to his apartment one afternoon and we were able to move everything out in less than an hour.  Since he didn't have any kitchen dishes or pans, it was basically just the clothes in his closet, his table and chairs and his bed that needed to be moved.  Jason had a nice truck and trailor, and took his mattress to the dump, a load to DI and we gave him Grandpa's nice TV for helping.  I am so grateful we moved him a few months ago, it made this move so easy.   I'm so grateful agaiun that we had him close to us for these last few months.  We went over to visit with him often, and were able to take our grandkids with us too.  It was sweet to be able to serve him, he was always so grateful for any little thing we did for him.  We sure loved him and will miss him.

The Little Mermaid

Savannah has been obsessed with the Little Mermaid for a while.  She loves the movie, so when Jamie heard Hale Theater was performing it, she got tickets to take her. She bought her this adorable Little Mermaid dress.   I was able to go too.  It was AMAZING and did not disappoint!  Savvy was mesmerized and just perfect sitting for over two hours.

She had an Ariel birthday party.  Her favorite colors are Ariel blue and purple.

Jamie made her an adorable Ariel cake, and she loves her Ariel Jammies.

For Christmas, Gabbie had her name and gave her an Ariel costume.
She did NOT want to take it off!

She is such a fun tiny gitl, I love her so much!!!!

Bear Lake Christmas in January

We had so much fun at "The Big House at Bear Lake" again this year that we have already booked it again for next year! It is so great that there is always something to do.  With 15 kids, we never once heard anyone say, I'm bored.

What a fun group of kids, we love them all so much!

Grandpa turns 94

On  January 11th, Grandpa Cliine turned 94 years old.  Sterling had given him a gift card to Cracker Barrel for Christmas, so he wanted to go there for lunch.  We had a great time and he ate everything on his plate, and there was a TON of food!
(I think it must have tasted better than the food at the assisted living place where he lives.)

We had a birthday party for him in the game room at Sunridge.  Josh and his kids were the first ones there so they helped me decorate. I brought paper, stickers and markers so the kids could make him  birthday cards.

He wanted a German Chocolate cake, so I made my friend Carolyn's delicious chocolate bunt cake.  ( I was so impressed that it came out of the pan perfectly, that I took a picture, but I totallly forgot to take one of it all decorated with the yummy German Chocolate frosting.)

Gabbie and Grandpa played games while they waited for the others to arrive.

The boys played dominos.

Grandpa had just gotten this shirt from his stepson, and tried it on and it felt so cozy, he wanted to keep it on.

I was better at getting pictures with him before everyone arrived. Josh's big girls and Merijane, were at Young Women's so they couldn't come.

Jordan brought his big boys, the rest stayed home because Savvy threw up right before they were ready to come.  Krista and Matt brought Sophie, the big girls were at Young Women's. Oliver had a basketball game, and Jamie is the coach, so their family didn't get to come either.

Steve and Lynn came.

Grandpa's sister Janis and her son Brent came from Orem.

It was such a nice evening.  He had had a really fun birthday. Two friends from Saratoga Springs came to visit him and they sang Happy Birthday to him at breakfast, so everyone wished him a happy birthday.  It was so unexpected when early in the morning on Jan. 14th just 3 days later, we got a call that he had passed away in his sleep.  Mike had had a nice visit with him the day before, and had no idea that would be the last time he would get to talk to him.  We are grateful, that we moved him so much closer to our house, so that we could visit with him so often.  He was a great man and a good example to all of us.  He will be missed!
