A Baby shower

I was able to give a shower for a cute girl in our ward, Ann Lloyd, who is having a baby.  She has one little boy who is 7 and has not been able to get pregnant until now.  We are all so happy for her!  

  I have learned to LOVE balloon garlands.  Sophie makes them easy to do.  She blows them up, I tie them and then we both add them to the garland.

I'm always so grateful we took down the wall between the kitchen and living room.  It makes it easy to fit a LOT of people in our house.

The shower started at 10:30, and we had a pretty full house until 12:15.

I made cinnamon rolls, a cheeseball and crackers and fruit dip.  Marilyn brought fruit, Carolyn Williams brought a vegetable tray and Carolyn Bradley brought grapes and 2 kinds of muffins. Everything was DELICIOUS!

Aida helped me make a darling invitation, and I delivered 50 of them.  We had 35 ladies either come or drop by a gift.  Such a great turnout!  Ann really felt loved.

 

Easter Celebration (a week late)

We had a delicious late Easter Dinner.  I cooked a turkey breast and a roast, Jamie brought fruit kabobs and fruit, Krista made delicious bread, Emily made a yummy salad and  Merijane made chocolate chip ice cream sandwhiches.  Everything was so tasty!

It ws a perfect day for a picnic outside, 73 degrees and no wind or wasps.  We played some fun Easter Minute to win it games that the kids really enjoyed.

They had to see how many peeps they could get in a basket in a minute.

The kids had so much fun being together.

He is Risen!

 This year, the church has invited us to celebrate Easter more than just one day.  They have given us a beautiful week long study of the week before Easter.  There are videos, songs, scriptues and talks to help us focus more on the Savior than ever before.  It has been wonderful, and I have loved it.  As I decorated for Easter this year, I tried to focus more on the Savior too.

I have loved all the reminders of Him throughout my home.

I'm going to leave up the Start today with Jesus sign out. It was the Christmas gift Grandpa Cline's bashopric gave  him.   I loved it and brought it home when we were cleaning out his house.  

I am so grateful for this incredible day that changed everything and for my Savior who made it all possible.

Jack's baptism day

April 8th was a wonderful day!  Jack was baptized by his dad and all of our kids and grandkids were there to support him.

It was such a nice day. Jack got to plan the program.  He asked both his grandpa's to give the prayers.  He had Libbie and Gabbie give talks and they were both BEAUTIFUL!  His two grandma's got to be the witnesses, Jordan played the piano and Hailey led the singing.  It was just perfect!  Such a cute boy!  We love him so much and are so proud of him.  Afterwards, we went to his house for a delicious brunch.  We had fruit, muffins, cinnamon rolls,and breakfast casseroles, yummmm!

 

Savvy joins the Littles for a sleepover

The Little's have been so excted to have Savvy come for a sleepover.  The last few times we've had one, she has either been sick or busy, so this is her first.  She was a tiny bit nervous, thinking about coming  without her boys, but as soon as she saw the girls, she was fine.  We went to the Aquarium and had a great time.  (Thanks, Josh and Merijane, for letting us use your pass to get some of us in.)  

We saw all kinds of cool fish and animals.

We had snacks and played at the awesome playground.  

The big girls had as much fun as Savannah there.

Such goofy girls!  We went home and watched Parent Trap, one of our favorites.

Saturday, was our teams day to clean the church.  Mike wasn't feeling great, so I took these four to help.

Afterwards, we went to Home Depot to do their kids activity.  Unfortunately, there were a million people there, and not enough tools, so we sent them home with the girls to do with their dads.  What a fun time we had.

 It doesn't seem like very long ago that these three beauties were just tiny girls. They are growing up sooooo fast!  They are all 3 great students,  wonderful young women and such great examples for their sisters and cousins.  I hope they know how proud I am of them and how much I love and adore them.  They work hard to acheive their goals and I can't wait to see what the next few years hold for them.                                            

 

Aunt Jerry passes away

 

Jerolyn Lee McKay

JUNE 17, 1938 – JANUARY 25, 2023

Jerolyn Lee Brown McKay, 84, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and daughter died peacefully in her sleep January 25, 2023 of natural causes. She was born on June 17,1938 in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho to Archie Brown and Othella Elaine Morris Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister and her brother.

Jerry is survived by her son William Paul McKay and his wife Tracee and their children; Cody Paul McKay and fiancé Grace as well as Nicole (Nicki) Catherine McKay. Her sister Bonnie Danielson and her husband Dennis as well as their children who she thought of and treated like grandchildren; Todd, Tyler, Justin and Chase Danielson. Her sister Darlene Borget and husband David as well as many adoring nieces and nephews that she loved. Her brother Mike preceded her in death by just ten days.

The second of five children, Jerry was a kind and loving older sister to her younger siblings who adored her. When she was young the family moved around a lot in Idaho and Utah ending up in Salt Lake where she met the love of her life, Paul McKay. They were married on May 29, 1959 and settled in Rose Park. Jerry’s mother died when her younger sister Bonnie was five years old and Jerry and Paul later welcomed Bonnie into their home and treated her like their own. They saved her by giving her a loving home and a safe place to land.

Jerry had a long career with General Motors working her way up from entry level secretary to executive administrative assistant for the Zone Manager in Salt Lake and then later for the Zone Manager in Denver, Colorado. It was one of the top level positions a woman could hold with GM at that time. Her best accomplishment, however, arrived on May 24, 1970 when her son William Paul McKay was born. Bill was everything to her and Paul and the focus of their life. They loved camping and boating and spending time together with family. Paul died suddenly of a heart attack July 1, 1973 leaving a heartbroken Jerry, Bonnie and Bill behind.

Jerry and Bill moved to Colorado where Bill finished High school and later earned a degree in automotive technology. He later met and married Tracee Crapo. The two of them have unselfishly spent the last few years helping with Jerrys care.

Jerry’s happiest times and most joyous moments have been spent with her beautiful grandchildren Cody and Nicki. They were definitely her world and she would have done anything for them. Jerry was kind and sensitive and loved being with her family. She was a strong and independent woman who took care of her family on her own for nearly fifty years until she became ill. There are no words to express our sorrow at her passing nor the relief we feel that she no longer suffers. We will always love her and think of her and try to be like her as we move forward and try to heal from the loss of one of the kindest and most compassionate humans ever born.

She will be buried in Wasatch Memorial Gardens in Salt Lake City next to her beloved husband Paul, February 4, 2023. There will be a graveside service at 10:00 a.m. that same morning.

I'm so sad that my last 3 posts have been about someone I love dearly passing away.  

Aunt Jerry was such a great lady, her funeral was wonderful, just like she was.  Everyone who spoke talked about how kind and generous she was.  I remember as a little kid, I was her first niece.  She always gave us the best birthday presents.  One year she gave me and my siblings the funnest jungle gym.  After my parents passed away, I inherited it.  Our grandkids love to play on it.   She also gave us a fun merry go round, (it's probably still up in the rafters of Jeff's house).  

Bonnie, Lani, Pamela, and Justin all spoke at her funeral.  They each shared wonderful stories of how she had influenced their lives.  Here are a few photos I took of the day. All of Bonnie's kids and their spouses were there and several of her grandkids.

There was quite a group, especially since she hasn't lived here for 40 years.  

It's so nice to get together with siblings and cousins.

Rodney has come up from St. George the last two weeks for funerals.  He's such a great guy.  John and Laura brought Darlene and David.

They had a lovely gathering after the graveside service and served Mrs. Bakers Cakes

YUMMMM!  Jerry LOVED those cakes.

Pamela had sent these flowers, and gave them to Lani to take home since she was leaving right after the service and wanted them to be enjoyed by someone special..
