My Best Day in a long time!

A couple of weeks ago, Jamie and Emily floated down the Provo River with their kids.  They had so much fun, they wanted to do it again.  Krista's family was at a family reunion with Matt's family, but the rest of our kids went with them and had a Blast!  (No one else took phones with them cuz they didn't want them to get wet in the river, thus no other pictures.)

I was the lucky one, and got to tend Parker and Savvy.

That morning, before I left, I asked Parker what he wanted to do and he said he wanted to play games and make chocolate cookies.  I remembered this fun recipe, my Mom and Darlene used to make, so I put all the ingredients in baggies and brought them to make with Parker

Parker LOVED making cookies to share with his family.

We called them turtle cookies, you cook them in a waffle iron.  He took his job very seriously.
He carefully frosted each one after they cooled.

I brought some fun games and puzzles, Parker is the puzzle master!
We played Curious George and Parker won every time.

His favorite game is Bob the Builder and so he requested I bring that.
Jamie called to check and see how the kids were doing and Savvy was still snoozing.  She told me to wake her up so that she would go to sleep on time.  Parker climbed in the crib with her to wake her up.  He puts on the sweetest little voice when he talks to her.

She is just the happiest little girl, even when she gets awakened by her cute brother!
It was such a fun day!  I have SO MISSED getting to play with grandkids!

Pioneer Day 2020

July 24th 1847 was the day the pioneers made it to the Salt Lake Valley.  It has been celebrated every year since, with a wonderful parade, (until this year #coronavirus)  I wanted to do something fun for my family to celebrate, and Robynn found this cute idea for a "Pie"oneer day treat.  I think we bought almost 50 mini pies and had fun delivering them. (I went to the store 3 times, because I kept thinking of more people I wanted to take them to.)

The day before Pioneer Day, was a marathon day.  We left our house at 9:30 to head to the copy center to pick up the tags I had printed. (my printer was out of ink)  Then, Mike had a Eye Dr. appointment, from there we went to Sams Club to pick up some things for Grandma Cline.  Then off to her house to drop her groceries off and pick up some boxes she had, to take to Ric and Kathy who just sold their house and will be moving soon.   We also picked up a beautiful afghan she had crocheted for Stephanie.  We made a quick stop and grabbed printer cartridges, then stopped by Krista's work and gave her a pie.  From there, we went to Krista's house to deliver pies to her girls, then to Jamie's house, then Ric and Kathy's to drop off the boxes and grabbed some lunch.  We visited Grandpa Cline and took him on an errand, and headed to Jordan's and then to Stephanie's for a pie and afghan delivery.
Our last stop was Josh's house and we arrived home at 7:30.  What a fun day!!!!

This morning, I was out with my friend on our morning walk and got offered zucchini from 2 people.  I came home with a couple and made some DELICIOUS zucchini bread. (My aunt Sandy's recipe)  I texted Kim, her daughter and told her I had just made her mom's recipe and she said how much she missed her mom and loved her zucchini bread.
Meanwhile, Robynn texted some of our relatives this cute picture with the pies she was delivering around her neighborhood, and said she wished she could bring them one.

I realized, that Robynn wasn't close enough to do a delivery, but I was.  I called Lani, and asked her if she would like to join me in a delivery.  She was game, I wrapped up the bread and ran and bought a few more pies and we were off.  We delivered Kim zucchini bread and she was so cute about it!

We delivered Ila Fae and her daughter Chris pies. When we got to Uncle Boyd's, he didn't answer his door.  We could hear some kind of noise in the back yard, so we went to investigate.  There he was, trimming his bushes.  (I forgot to get a picture of him, so this is one of him visiting Aunt Deanne last week through the window)  We had a nice visit with him.  He is all alone since Aunt DeAnne is in a care center. (Here's a picture of him visiting her through the window)

I sent some pies home with Lani for Jeff and Jen. ( Lani stopped on her way home and bought some to deliver to her friends and neighbors. ) Tonight, we took them to several of our neighbors and the families we minister to.  What a fun few days I've had.  Happy " Pie"oneer Day!

Corona Virus visits

It has now been 4 LONG months that the Corona Virus has been going on.  Unfortunately, it has gotten worse instead of better.  Because, we haven't been able to get together with all our kids, every week since it started, we make a visit to their houses and do a "social distance" visit. Once in a while, they stop by our house for a visit,

We take them some kind of a little treat each week.  Here are a few of the ones we have done.
Chex party mix' and Easter Chocolates.

Cookies, Raspberry sweet rolls, (not sure why I took the picture before they were baked??)

Strawberries, Ice Cream Bars

Masks

More Cookies and also some Rice Krispie treats

Gift cards for Happy meals

Snow cones , Pop and popcorn

Tonight we did fixings for S'mores.  Josh just sent this cute picture of his kids eating theirs.

It has been so fun and gives us something to look forward to each week!

Baptism Day

July 15 was an extra special day in our family!
Two of our granddaughters, Kelsi and Gabbie  got baptized.

Kelsi got baptized in Lehi and Gabbie in Riverton.

Because of Covid 19, things were a little different.  We were asked to wear masks, and they could only invite very few people to the baptism.  All of our  kids and grandkids watched it via Zoom,
we are very grateful for technology in these crazy times.
Luckily, they were at different times.   Kelsi's baptism was at 10:40, so we went to it first.
She is such a sweet girl, and so excited to get baptized.

Then we went to Gabbie's baptism at 1:40.   She is a gal who likes to have fun.  Every day she asks her mom what they are going to do that's fun.  I'm sure she thought today was a fun day!

Jordan got a job!

For the last few months, Jordan has been looking for a new job.  About a year and a half ago, Intel, the company Jordan worked for, decided to move their Utah office to California.  They were going to be making the move effective  July 31, 2020.   Jamie and Jordan had just built a beautiful new home and did not want to move.  They made a trip to California  to check out the area, and the prices of homes were so crazy there, that they could only afford an older home that was tons smaller than the one they have here. After many prayers, and a  bunch of interviews, he got the call he had been waiting for. He has accepted another job with Intel, but they are going to allow him to work from home  even though the office is in Oregon.   We are all so thrilled!!!

Fun with Doll Clothes

A few weeks ago, Hailey and Aida called and wondered if I would help them make a swim suit for their American Girl Dolls.  Their other grandma is an AMAZING seamstress, and makes the most adorable clothes for their dolls.  I asked them if they were sure they wanted me to help, since I've never really made doll clothes.  They assured me that they did, (their other grandma loves to make the doll clothes for them, but doesn't let them do the sewing, and they wanted to sew.)
We figured out how to make these cute shorts for the dolls out of some of their jeggings they had cut off for shorts. We made the black swimsuit, out of a pair of leggings, and the coral one out of Aida's old swimsuit.

They did these themselves and were thrilled.  It was so much fun, that I went to Joanne's and bought 3 patterns.

Once I saw the patterns, I totally understood, why their other grandma didn't want their help. The patterns are a bit tricky.  It took this many pieces,

to make the blue flowered ruffly dress!

I hope I have enough patience to try to help them, doll clothes are lots of fun, but lots of work.  I spent over 2 hours on several of the outfits.  I'm sure I'll get faster.

Aida had loaned me the doll with short hair to use as my model, but I needed a few to try out all the clothes.  I hit DI, and a couple of thrift stores and found 1 doll at each store.  Can't wait until I can have granddaughters over to play with them.
